about me
Hi there! I'm Lauren. I am a 20-something year old artist living and thriving in Chicago. My main goal with my art is to bring smiles and inspiration to others. I like colors and I live off of comics and cartoons! I love working in different styles and mediums, with my main focus being digital art, watercolor, and ink/pen work.
I graduated with a BFA in Illustration from the American Academy of Art and I am always open to taking commissions! artists statement
When I was little I always found it difficult to openly express myself to people I didn’t know very well. I’d always be shy and introverted, not knowing how others would react to my emotions and opinions. One of the few ways I was able to work past this was through drawing. So, naturally, I drew a lot. Happy things, fun things, sad things when I was feeling particularly unhappy. And when I wanted to tell a story, I told it through drawings and comics.
Expressing myself emotionally to others has never been my strong point. But instead of that remaining my weakness, I took it and used it as an inspiration and was able to change it into my greatest strength: my art. The work I create is all an extension of myself. Whatever the subject matter may be, I pour my heart and strength into my artwork to give it a life of it’s own. Even now, during my personal struggle with my own emotions, I strive to make the best of it. Because my main goal with my art is inspiration and empathy; I want to make people feel the emotions I’m trying to convey and use that as inspiration to create their own art. If I manage to make just one person in my audience smile and create with me then I can rest easy knowing that my message went through. |
